Vegan Camping

Last year Lydia and I decided to buy a chalet-style pop-up camper, so we could travel, hike, bike, and not have to worry about finding somewhere to eat, no matter where we were. If we find vegan food at local restaurants, that’s great; if not, we cook our own. We could probably have put together a more simplified set-up for our tent, but we’re getting old and want a little more comfort while still kinda roughing it. We bring with us a combination of prepared and unprepared... Read More

We too went to Portland!

It seems everybody has been busy writing about Vida Vegan for the past couple of weeks. At this point, there’s very little left unsaid about the convention itself, I think, so I’m mostly going to just talk about our trip to Portland (there will be a Gastronomy Trip follow-up soon and possibly a separate restaurant review or two. Stay tuned). So, Portland. Here’s a summary: [box title=”Portland at a glance” color=”#e0361b”] Pros: Vegan... Read More

I went to the Vaute Couture fall and winter fashion show on February 6, 2013. Leanne put out some amazing, beautiful clothes. There were a lot of vegan celebrities there including, Jasmin and Mary Ann from Our Hen House, Chef Chloe Coscarelli, Joshua Katcher from The Discerning Brute and Brave Gentleman, Victoria Moran from Main Street Vegan, Danielle Konya from Vegan Treats, and Gene Baur from Farm Sanctuary. #gallery-6 { margin: auto; } #gallery-6 .gallery-item... Read More

The Seed: A Vegan Experience

On Saturday, June 16th, Lydia and I attended The Seed: A Vegan Experience at 82 Mercer in the hopping Soho district of NYC. Instead of your typical vegetarian food festival, Erin Red, et al., made sure this gorgeous loft was teaming with vegan companies! In addition to companies peddling their wares, we were treated to speakers on two different stages as well as a screening room where movies were presented. Lovebug Kitchen seitan taco at The Seed. The space was lovely and wide-open,... Read More

The Chip Factory – Pipersville, PA

This past weekend was the much awaited grand opening of Brad’s Raw Foods Chip Factory. An all raw/vegan business that’s growing and expanding into a health and wellness resource for the community is a really big deal for our little corner of suburban PA. I’ve been buying Brad’s awesome chips (the naked kale is my favorite) since he first started. I couldn’t be more excited that his business boomed so quickly and has opened an official hub only 10... Read More

Weavers Way Vegan Fest

Yesterday the From A to Vegan crew headed down to Mt. Airy, a quick drive for us, to Weavers Way Vegan Fest. Weavers Way is one of the oldest grocery store-style co-ops in the region. I have a little soft spot for them because I’m on the board of a soon-to-be co-op (Doylestown Food Co-op) that aspires to do a lot of community and education work Weavers Way does. They’re a true model of what a co-op should be — enriching their community, supporting other co-ops in... Read More

Gene Baur Speaking Tour Comes to PA

On Sunday, December 4, 2011, Gene Baur visited Doylestown, PA as part of Farm Sanctuary’s 25th Anniversary Speaking Tour. After hearing him speak earlier in the year, we knew we wanted to have him come to our area. This took some planning because we wanted to make sure we provided a great event for everyone in attendance. That morning, we hosted Gene for breakfast at Sprig & Vine—a wonderful vegan restaurant close by in New Hope, PA. They set up a great menu for us—a... Read More
